Living the Life in Costa del Sol

LIVING in Costa del Sol nowadays may be as serene as it gets. Because winter is approaching, Costa del Sol tends to get colder nowadays with temperatures expected as low as -3 degrees Celsius by January or February. In the meantime, vacationers who were not around at the peak of summer can enjoy the majestic sunrise over the Mediterranean in colder temperatures nowadays. This is ideal for honeymooning couples who hate the rowdy crowds during summer and want the beach all for themselves.

As Costa del Sol braces for next summer, the local government here is finding new ways on how to improve the tourism spots here. In fact, they have appointed Diego Martin Reyes as the new planning commissioner overlooking the whole Costa del Sol stretch. Based in Marbella, Reyes is former president of the Marbella interim committee. His appointment was caused by Manuel Chaves, the president of the Junta de Andalucia. The Costa del Sol and the Andalucian folks are real serious about this one. They post of Costa del Sol planning commissioner is a new one.

Reyes’s job will be to oversee that all beach and other related resorts in Costa del Sol are operated according to quality. These beaches must pass the periodic inspections done by the European Union so that they can all have blue flag accreditation. A beach resort or a golf course or a scuba diving spot having a blue flag accreditation means that even tap water in its premises can be drunk. Thus, you will never find any hotel in Spain with signage that says that tap water cannot be drunk. A golf course having a blue flag accreditation means that their instructors and caddies are all certified by the PGA. A scuba diving resort having the same accreditation means that their instructors are certified by the appropriate body.

Among the vast coastal areas under Reyes’s control aside from Marbella will be Benahavis, Benalmadena, Casares, Estepona, Fuengirola, Manilva, Mijas and Ojen. He will be responsible to implement the Costa del Sol Integral Plan which is now in the drawing board of the councilors in Andalucia.

Another parallel development done by the Andalucian authorities in Costa del Sol nowadays is to set up a help desk for visiting Europeans and Americans. Help desks for foreigners are supposed to be seen only in capital cities such as Madrid but the Andalucian authorities find their plan to be feasible. They say that setting up a help desk will help rein in more tourists, thus boosting the economy in the Costa del Sol area. The results will definitely be a chain of events. Once foreign tourists will be in the area, word will spread to their countrymen about how beautiful Costa del Sol is. This can result to more tourists. And some of these tourists eventually buy up vacation retreat homes here. The overall situation will be buoying up the economy in the whole Costa del Sol. So what are you waiting for? Book now your vacation in Costa del Sol for the next summer.
